The connection between talent attraction and primary job growth is unmistakable, making it extremely important that, together, we remain focused on the deliberate strategies that will create lasting results. Since talent is a top commodity in economic development, it is often the first question asked by companies and site selectors.

As one of the six key priority areas of the Greater Wichita Partnership, talent retention and recruitment is critical to growing our region.

A few of the areas that the Partnership team works within the talent realm include:

Strategic marketing and branding

To assist companies in helping tell the Wichita story to prospective talent, the Partnership initiated a robust branding and marketing effort to create an aggressive multi-year plan for the greater Wichita region.

Working with Development Counsellors International (DCI) – global leaders in place marketing – key goals of the project included identifying talent recruitment markets and key industries to attract talent from and in, developing messages of unique community selling points, and identifying marketing strategies to implement for both attraction and retention. The Partnership team worked with local partners Howerton+White to develop a talent focused brand and website, Choose Wichita, which was launched in early 2019.

Insight and materials for local businesses

The Partnership team regularly meets with local businesses across all industries in the region to garner key insights on talent recruitment and retention efforts, as well as gaps that need to be addressed. If requested the team will provide presentations to companies on talent recruitment and how to sell the region to talent. In addition, the team provides regularly updated materials to assist companies in talent recruitment.

Talent Advisory Committee

A Talent Advisory Committee, comprised of Human Resource Executives and community leaders, is regularly convened to provide strategic direction for current and future talent recruitment and retention efforts. The Talent Advisory Committee consists of:

The Partnership also collaborates with Young Professionals of Wichita and other regional partners to encourage internships and enhance the internship experiences through events like the Summer Intern Kickoff.
