Beginning as a railroad hub for the Texas cattle trade, industry has continued to thrive in Harvey County. With two Class I railroads, Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) and Union Pacific, along with other local short line services, rail transportation serves a vital role in the county’s economy and one of the largest employers. Located in Newton, the Kansas Logistics Park is one of only a few BNSF Certified Sites in the Midwest.
Harvey County is a prime location for road transportation as well. Located along I-135, which provides direct access to both coasts along with Canada and Mexico through I-35 and I-70.
