Partnership Affiliate Organization Awarded Grant to Assist with Workforce Development

WICHITA, Kan. Jan. 17, 2023 – The Greater Wichita Partnership is pleased to announce Opportunity Wichita, Inc., an affiliate organization of the Partnership, is the recipient of a $25,000 grant from the Healthier Tomorrow Fund at the HCA Healthcare Foundation.

The mission of the HCA Healthcare Foundation is to promote health and well-being while making a positive impact in all the communities HCA Healthcare serves. This is done through innovation initiatives focused on addressing high-priority community needs and advancing health equity.

The grant will help advance the community’s talent and workforce development strategy, paving the way for new, purposeful initiatives to strengthen the Wichita region’s healthcare workforce. Investing in talent is one of the Partnership’s strategic priorities, and the team will actively support the administration of this grant initiative.

“This is a tremendous opportunity to connect the work of the Partnership’s newly formed Talent Community Engagement Committee with the workforce needs in the healthcare sector of our region. We are extremely grateful to Wesley Healthcare and the HCA Healthcare Foundation for its investment in the region’s talent pipeline,” said Greater Wichita Partnership Senior Strategic Advisor for Talent Roadmap and Workforce Development Tami Bradley.

“We are grateful HCA continues to invest in Wichita,” said Wesley Healthcare’s President and CEO Bill Voloch. “It’s no secret our community needs more healthcare workers. This is a perfect partnership to address that need.”

The funds will be a catalyst for positive change, allowing the creation of a talent marketing campaign for healthcare workers in the greater Wichita region. The campaign, with an emphasis on upskilling or reskilling untapped and underserved communities, will address the unique challenges and opportunities within the healthcare workforce landscape.

“I am extremely proud of our Talent Team’s dedication to not only elevating our region’s workforce but to holistically strengthening the future of work. This grant will add to their relentless efforts, and I am optimistic about the ongoing, transformative impact this will have on the Wichita region for years to come,” emphasized Partnership President Jeff Fluhr. “Thank you to Wesley Healthcare and the HCA Healthcare Foundation for its continued support of our region’s workforce development.”

The Partnership is assembling an advisory group in the initial phase of implementing the grant.
