Located west of Wichita, Kingman County is a predominantly rural community with a diverse economy that features manufacturing, construction and oil and gas. The city of Kingman is experiencing a wave of progress with a beautiful downtown district featuring historic buildings coming back to life with new and exciting shopping and dining experiences. Having recently completed a comprehensive development plan for the next 20 years, Kingman has set goals and objectives for its continued vitality. Along with those plans is a new park master plan to further enhance and expand the quality of life that Kingman can provide.
The county encompasses 864 square miles and at its heart is the huge Byron Walker game preserve and public hunting area. Constructed in 1962, Cheney Lake Reservoir serves as the key water supply and flood control for Kingman County.
